From Innovation to Production platforms: Soft-In and Epicnpoc Strengthen Partnership

Soft-In and Epicnpoc are joining forces by integrating Epicnpoc’s BOWL® prototyping software into automotive and industrial grade embedded platforms. This collaboration enables car OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to rapidly develop in-cabin experiences ready for series production.

Innovation Ready for Series Production

Through this partnership, both companies will expand the scalability of their product and service offerings, providing customers with more comprehensive solutions.

Key Contributions:

  • Soft-in brings expertise in analog and digital high-performance hardware platform development, along with lower-level software design (BSP) and development across various processing platforms, operating systems, and virtualization technologies.
  • Epicnpoc provides its BOWL® software platform, designed to help OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers create innovative proofs of concept (POCs). BOWL® offers a scalable communication framework and user-friendly HMI design tools.

The range of applications is well-established in the automotive sector but extends beyond it. With operations in France, Germany, and Italy, the companies are well-positioned to serve a significant portion of the European market and reach overseas innovation hubs.

About BOWL®: Transforming Prototyping in Automotive

Epicnpoc specializes in tools and services for the automotive and smart cockpit industries. Their flagship product, BOWL®, is a powerful no-code platform for designing seamless in-cabin user experiences. It combines modular hardware and software components for rapid prototyping and iterative development. The platform includes a comprehensive set of pre-integrated tools from leading suppliers, such as digital clusters, e-mirrors, audio systems, interior/exterior lighting, and simulation software.

Angelo Monteleone, Founder and Executive Chairman at Soft-In, stated: “We’re thrilled to deepen our partnership with Epicnpoc. Our hardware and software services in embedded platforms will enable manufacturers to create series-ready in-cabin experiences through the BOWL® platform in very short time.”

Soft-in: 40+ Years of Embedded Expertise

With over 40 years of experience in in-vehicle electronics, Soft-In focuses mainly on infotainment and connectivity systems Their expertise spans:

  • Embedded software development across various platforms, operating systems, and application levels.
  • Hardware development using microcontrollers and SoCs from Intel, Renesas, Texas Instruments, NXP, Ambarella, Qualcomm, and others.

The integration, test and validation capabilities of Soft-In complete their portfolio in an optimum way.

Pierre Sigrist, CEO and CTO at Epicnpoc, emphasized: “We have collaborated with Soft-In for many years on various customer projects. Soft-In perfectly complements our service range, and we are excited to expand our collaboration.”

A Fully Integrated Prototype Example

Soft-In and Epicnpoc recently collaborated to provide an Automotive Smart Cockpit demonstrator to a major German Tier 1 supplier. This proof of concept showcases a hypervisor platform running both Linux and Android on various hardware, including a PC, a Raspberry Pi, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon platform. Its modular architecture supports eight different GUIs, including e-mirrors, pillar-to-pillar displays, HUDs, cluster displays, passenger displays, and rear-seat displays. Additionally, the demonstrator features LED lighting, five audio zones, and a digital twin of the cockpit for virtual scene simulation.

The headline from Epicnpoc at this week’s DVN Interior Workshop in Cologne, Germany, perfectly describes the mission of this cooperation: “From SDV to Experience Defined Vehicle: Test and Prove Your Innovation Concepts!”
